RWE is a German energy company that generates and trades electricity in Europe, the United States, and Asia. It produces electricity from, in descending order, natural gas, lignite, nuclear power, renewables, hard coal, and pumped storage. It is the world’s second-largest producer of offshore wind power, and Europe’s third-largest renewable energy company. It was founded in 1898 in Essen, Germany, where it is still headquartered today.
