Competitive Ranking Policy

Summary

As part of its ongoing research into technology markets, ABI Research routinely evaluates vendors to assess the innovation and commercial success of their solutions. Our Competitive Ranking framework measures vendors on two key dimensions: Innovation and Implementation.

  • Innovation: Assesses the novelty, uniqueness, and technical advancement of the solutions in addressing market needs.
  • Implementation: Evaluates the vendor’s commercial traction, focusing on the widespread adoption of their solutions.

The specific criteria for each dimension may vary depending on the market being analyzed, as ABI Research covers both mature and emerging markets with unique dynamics.

Participation

ABI Research will curate a set of companies to be included within each Competitive Ranking. While this list may involve subjective judgment, it is designed to ensure a manageable and meaningful comparison of vendors.

Importantly, a company’s status as a client of ABI Research does not influence their inclusion in our evaluations. Our selection process remains impartial and solely focused on providing accurate and valuable insights.

Vendors who wish to be considered for inclusion may submit a request via the Vendor Briefing Form on the ABI Research website. Requests for inclusion will only be considered during the pre-research stage, which begins with the announcement of the Competitive Ranking and continues until formal research commences. After this period, no further additions will be accepted.

Questionnaire & Criteria

ABI Research analysts will provide participating vendors with a detailed questionnaire outlining the criteria for both the Innovation and Implementation dimensions. We value input from vendors and will seek their feedback on the criteria most relevant to their market segment. However, ABI Research analysts will make the final determination of which criteria are used.

Vendors will receive both the criteria and their respective scores for each criterion. While ABI Research is committed to transparency in the evaluation process, we do not disclose the individual weightings of the criteria or how they are used to calculate the overall Innovation and Implementation scores. This ensures that the final ranking reflects ABI Research’s independent judgment while maintaining a consistent methodology.

Review of Results

Prior to the publication of the Competitive Ranking, ABI Research analysts will notify participating vendors of their final scores. Vendors will have up to seven (7) days from notification to request a review of their scores with the analysts. This period is designed to accommodate publication deadlines and ensure timely feedback.

If escalation is necessary, a single review call may be scheduled with a Research Vice President, subject to availability. After the 7-day period, ABI Research reserves the right to publish the results without further revision.

Sharing the Results

Vendors are not permitted to share, reproduce, or reprint the Competitive Ranking results without obtaining the appropriate media license from ABI Research. Licensing details and options will be made available upon request.

Vendors are welcome to direct their customers, prospects, or other interested parties to the ABI Research website, where we may choose to promote the research. However, even if a vendor subscribes to ABI Research’s services, they are prohibited from reproducing or distributing the research content, in whole or in part, without an appropriate license.
