Artificial Intelligence Stakeholders Target Vertical Integration as They Attempt to Build a Proposition Capable of Competing with NVIDIA

NVIDIA’s rise to the top of the Artificial Intelligence (AI) tree has been built on its platform approach that vertically integrated hardware and software. Spurred on by this success and other market forces, hardware and software players are looking to build end-to-end value propositions. Hyperscalers are looking downward and investing in custom AI chipsets, while chipset vendors are looking upward to build out their software capabilities. Consolidating an end-to-end value proposition seems to be a smart strategy, but it still will not be enough to compete with NVIDIA at the top end of the market.
