Methodology:
The total market size on a global and regional scale for 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) Consumer Premises Equipment (CPE) shipments is pulled from ABI Research’s latest Fixed Wireless Access market data (MD-FWA-103). Vendor shipment data, both global and regional, are calculated based on a variety of sources, including research interviews with cellular operators, vendors, and general ecosystem players on the respective worldwide and regional stage. In terms of tracking and reporting the unit shipment data, shipments are allocated based on the end market where the product is “acquired” for its functional use and operation. In terms of defining “unit shipments,” this represents a discrete, self-contained unit with the necessary electronics, hardware and software to make the “unit” operational.
Individual vendor data assumes unique Average Selling Prices (ASPs) for each vendor. This primarily reflects the Bill of Materials (BOM)—both hardware (electronics, motherboard, form factor cover) and software—as well as initial cost of sales fees (i.e., nominal marketing and sales channel mark-up). It does not reflect volume discounting or clearing stock discounting. Finally, tracked CPE shipments include both the enterprise and consumer markets.
