Bluetooth LE Audio: Market Opportunities and Challenges
Most chipset suppliers and device manufacturers will continue to support Classic Audio while adding Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) Audio capabilities. This dual-mode incorporation allows these companies to continue targeting the installed base for Classic Audio as LE Audio, enabled by new features of the 5.2 Bluetooth specification, gains more traction in the markets. By 2027, 2.6 billion devices will ship with dual-mode compared to about 425 million shipments with Bluetooth LE Audio single-mode. The latter will stem from vendors like Nordic Semiconductor, Silicon Labs, and other companies with little or no market share in Classic Audio. Bluetooth LE Audio gives these firms a competitive advantage in a differentiation strategy and enables them to focus on innovating a technology destined to take over.
