According to ABI Research Forecasts, the Total Addressable Market (TAM) for on-premises deployed edge servers will increase from US$323 million in 2021 to US$5.8 billion in 2030, with a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 53%. As Chart 1 shows, the market is mainly driven by deployments in the manufacturing domain, contributing more than 57% of 2030 revenue. Factory owners are concerned about network integrity and the safeguarding of production data; therefore, they are more likely to require deploying on-premises equipment. Carpeted verticals (i.e., retail, hospitality, stadiums & smart event locations), in contrast, are more likely to leverage existing off-premises infrastructure, as this saves cost and site space.
