ABI Research forecasts total Wi-Fi Access Point (AP) shipments to grow at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 6.4% between 2024 and 2030, increasing from 294.1 million units to 426 million units. Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 7 will dominate the market, while Wi-Fi 6E will become obsolete. Customers that require thE 6 GHz spectrum will jump straight to the superior Wi-Fi 7 at a slightly higher price point than Wi-Fi 6E, and customers that do not require the spectrum will go with the cheaper Wi-Fi APs. We also expect Wi-Fi 8 to gain traction starting in 2028.
